01 — ORIGINS

First-generation Mexican American, born and raised in Austin, TX.

Jason grew up between two musical worlds. On one side: Stevie Ray Vaughan, George Strait, and Selena — the soundtrack of Texas in the 90s. On the other: cumbia, norteño, and regional Mexican music, soaked up during summers in his parents' hometown.

He picked up saxophone at 12, guitar at 14. By high school, he was already playing in bands across Austin's diverse venues, finding his place at the intersection of Latin tradition and Texas sound.

02 — THE CRAFT

Three disciplines, one practice.

Jason works as a guitarist, DJ, and producer — sometimes in the same night. His guitar work draws from Tejano, country, and rock, with a heavy emphasis on tone and groove. As a DJ, he curates sets that move from cumbia to corrido to old-school R&B without breaking the dance floor.

GUITAR

Telecaster & vintage tone. Influences: SRV, Junior Brown, Charlie Sexton.

DJ

Cumbia, corrido, R&B. Sets at Hotel Vegas, Far Out Lounge, Mexic-Arte.

PRODUCER

Live events, original recordings, festival programming.

03 — RECOGNITION

Backed by Austin's music institutions.

In 2023, Jason launched Unidos Por La Música with support from the City of Austin's Live Music Fund. The series has since drawn 300+ attendees per event and earned a second grant from the City's Elevate Fund — a rare two-time honor. KUTX has featured the work on Austin radio.
